Special weather statement in effect for:

Heavy rain expected on Wednesday.

A developing low pressure system is forecast to bring heavy rain to parts of Central and Northern Alberta tonight and Wednesday. Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 70 millimetres can be expected by Wednesday night. In addition, cooler air with this system could result in the rain changing to wet snow Wednesday night and into Thursday.

Over the Grande Cache region, precipitation will begin as rain but will likely transition to snow by morning over higher elevations. These areas may receive up to 10 centimetres of snow by Wednesday evening. While the townsites are likely to see a rain-snow mix, significant snowfall accumulations are not expected there.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
